BRIEF:

I went into my thesis with the goal to not overthink and just create. I tend to not finalize a design due to fear of not having it perfect or overthinking my design. My past has shown I have big and inspiring ideas in my head but fail to get them out tor start them and never finish.

I thought by giving myself parameters and more open space to experiment and explore would help me to just create. 

I found in the beginning of my first 3-6 logo’s I found this still happening. I was spending a lot of time perfecting a design or feeling I had to show multiple ways it could be used to show my logo design worked. I was hyper focused on the logo design at hand and less about the whole concept and learning.

I quickly was reminded to just create and explore and to not overthink when I started to fall behind on my timeline. I realized showing my thought process and work flow was just as important in this thesis goal with exploration and documenting that. 

When I started having fun with my logo’s and designing not in the goal to have perfection but instead exploration and in trying different things and tools is what lead me to learning a lot. When I created space for more experience and exploration with not only designing a logo but using the parameters to create a business name, concept and overall feel for the logo I was able to dive in and just play.

This gave me the time and space to learn a lot of new tools and was of designing logo’s I had not been familiar with before. I experimented with different typefaces, product mockups, overlays, manipulating letters into shapes, and making each logo have its own set of design details.  There is a difference from a logo that just states the name than from a logo that includes many detail edits wether its manipulating each letter with the pen tool, designing illustrations or creating letters from scratch. 

Creating 30 logos in 30 days helped me to get out of my head and dive into exploration and learning.
