826 BLOOMINGTON: WHO’S HERE?

What is Shop 826? 826 is a nonprofit with the goal to teach children writing and communication skills. In support of this goal they have opened up real storefronts that feature whimsical and creative themes such as superheroes or monster hunters. This project involved creating a fictional storefront of an 826 shop fitting into original and current stores parameters. Over the span of 12 weeks collaborative research on a specific city was done. After the research we worked individually to create an entire whimsical brand system featuring a letterhead, business cards, website (mobile & desktop), motion graphics, a storefront mockup and potential products for this store to sell.

The city featured within this project is Bloomington, IN. The fictional store for this city is Bloomington a supply store for children to learn about the people that make up the city of Bloomington in an adventurous and educational way. Bloomington is filled with outdoor activities, history, and people who are proud of their city. This was based on the fact that Indiana calls themselves “Hoosiers” which no one actually knows where this term derived from therefore this is a spin off, “Who’s Here?”
