deconstruction of consumption
MAKING THE INVISIBLE, VISIBLE
This 3 dimensional project takes you on a stroll down beer’s history and how it came to be where it is today. The goal for this project was to take a deep inward look into consumption of my own life. Then showcase a specific consumption by conceptually deconstructing it. This project was not to show what I already knew, but educate through design what I had learned.
This project was during covid, and we were challenged to take a look at everything we consume during a week. I chose beer and alcohol to create my projects concept around because I had not thought much into beer as a whole until then. By showing visual and verbal research progress that tells a story and is not just a regurgitation of facts. Throughout this process I found the research behind the history of beer’s consumption and evolution over the years very interesting and this brought a lot of inspiration behind my design process. However, I did struggle with how to construct the bottles and the box with keeping “deconstruct” in mind. I overcame this block by literally deconstructing beers history while physically deconstructing the packaging.
